Impressions of Place

Hong Kong and Japan offer an experience that can easily overwhelm. I was simultaneously in a state of ecstasy, disbelief, and exhaustion most of the time. Visually the experience was totally other-worldly. The density of the city is what first impresses. The layers of buildings and structures formed an immensely complex and layered texture. It extended forever.

Within the city existed the details and fabric of existence for millions of people. All in controlled chaos. How it all worked and functioned was unthinkable. As I photographed, I was constantly seeing what I had never seen before. I set out to capture some of those experiences…very few were accurately recorded.
